While I hope is that Shanghai Website Design is a user-friendly website, I want to cover all bases by answering your questions before you need to spend time searching for them. Below are what I perceive to be the most frequently asked questions about my service as a consultant.

5) What programming language / website platform do you recommend?
6) Do you know Mandarin? Can you give consultation sessions in Mandarin?
7) Do you have a team?
8) What type of payment methods do you accept?
9) Do you offer fapiaos / receipts?
10) How much do you charge for your consultation?
11) Tell me about your 100% money back guarantee…
12) How do I set up an appointment with you?

1) Where are you located?

I am located in Shanghai, China in the East Nanjing area. However, I’d be happy to go to you for a consulting session as long as you are willing to throw in some transportation expenses.

2) Do you deal with clients outside of Shanghai?

Sure! There is no reason to have a geographical limit to who I deal with. Instead of face-to-face meetings, you will simply receive personalized screen shot videos and talk-throughs based on your questions. If you need a face-to-face meeting, reach out to me on my contact form to discuss this one-off situation.

3) How long does it take for a website to be made?

The answer to this really depends on how complicated your website is. I have the ability to create my own websites in as fast as a few hours by my self (if they are very basic). However, your website will likely be more complicated. Take into account the complexity of hiring a worker or two to help you out and you need to take into account their schedule as well. If you are worried about time, the most important step you can take is to be prepared before hiring a programmer / designer / SEO specialist etc. The better prepared you are to offer them what you need, the faster your website will be done, the cheaper it will be and the better quality results you will receive. Of course, I can help you with this as a Shanghai Website Design consultant.

4) Why don’t you offer to make websites yourself?

I did this, previously. However, my passion is in helping others connect with those to to this work rather than managing a team of workers for you. My time is limited as I am focused on my personal websites, but I feel like I can offer the greatest amount of value to you in the shortest amount of time by providing you with my experience and advice in a personalized consulting session. To phrase this in another way — would you rather I charge you a few hundred RMB to teach you everything you need to know to do what I do or charge you thousands of RMB to follow the steps that I could quickly teach you?

Also, by not trying to upsell my own website design and programming services, I can offer unbiased suggestions to you. I am truly on your side in your battle to find the best web design team for you! Finally, this gives me a chance to reach a larger client base since I can work with corporations as a consultant whereas it was a lot trickier to work with them as a full web design team.

5) What programming language / website platform do you recommend?

There is no answer to this question that fits everyone’s circumstance, but I primarily try to persuade my clients to use the WordPress platform. The reason for this is that I use WordPress for 95% of my websites. It wouldn’t make much sense for me to recommend something that I don’t use myself? The advantages of WordPress are plentiful — very user friendly, graphically appealing, easy to customize, easily teachable, and SEO friendly.

6) Do you know Mandarin? Can you give consultation sessions in Mandarin?

I study Mandarin and know very basic Mandarin, but I wouldn’t want to give a consulting session in Mandarin. There is a lot that would be lost in translation. Therefore, until I get better at speaking Mandarin, I would prefer to give all consulting lessons in English.

7) Do you have a team?

No. I work alone and will keep it that way for the time being. This way, you won’t get diluted results. You will always speak with me, Mike. I’ve attempted to bring workers in previously to work on websites, but the nature of this business requires you to be as streamlined as possible to offer the lowest costs. I don’t want to pass overhead expenses off on you, so I’m keeping my team to 1 person. Me.

8) What type of payment methods do you accept?

I currently accept PayPal and cash payments, but prefer cash. PayPal will require payment in USD and a 5% PayPal fee.

9) Do you offer fapiaos / receipts?

I am a freelance worker. Because of this, I am not a registered company. I am especially not a registered company in China. However, I do have the opportunity to work around this and offer you a fapiao from a friend’s company for a 15% fee. It will essentially work as though you are paying him instead of me. He will then hire me as a consultant to work for you.

10) How much do you charge for your consultation?

Prices for my time are fixed at 300 RMB / hour with a minimum of 1 hour meeting.

Also, if you’d like me to travel to you, please throw in an additional 50 RMB for transportation charges if you are near a metro station in Shanghai. If you aren’t near a metro station, let’s chat to discuss transportation fees.

You may use me to either help you individually or a group of people. If I travel to you, please make sure you have internet access and your own computer so I can show you everything I am talking about. Also, try to ensure fast internet access to maximize your time. I generally get straight to the point, so we can make this go as fast or as slow as you dictate.

If you travel to me, I will likely have us meet at a local tea shop around East Nanjing that I know has good internet access. Be prepared to buy a drink for yourself so we don’t get kicked out.

11) Tell me about your 100% money back guarantee…

The value you will get from what I teach you will dwarf anything that you pay me in consulting services — especially if you are just getting started with your first website. I have a lot of experience doing this. I’ve spent a lot of time researching just about all of the topics I’ve been asked. I’ve made mistakes and have had success with it all. I’ve also spent a lot of money testing everything I teach. You will get your money’s worth from our consulting sessions. If, for some reason, you don’t agree, simply let me know within 7 days of our meeting (just shoot me an e-mail), and I will refund your payment in full.

12) How do I set up an appointment with you?
